Maungahina
Maungahina consists of three properties: the home property, Maungahina is 1460 acres situated 8km east of Masterton; Papariki is 130 acres situated 2km east of Masterton which is all under irrigation and a further 500 acres 15kms northwest of Masterton in a high rainfall area.
The McKenzie family have been farming Maungahina since 1907, the oldest Hereford Stud in New Zealand. In 1945 Maungahina hosted the first auction bullsale in Australasia and still continues to this day selling 70-80 2yr old bulls. At present Maungahina has 200 registered Hereford cows, 70 registered Charolais cows, 30 recipient cows and 2,100 commercial ewes, predominantly Romdales.
Mark, the 5th generation, is committed and endeavours to breed the best genetics available to provide the commercial breeders.

Waiorongomai
Waiorongomai is situated in the southern Wairarapa, only a ten minute drive from the south coast of the North Island. The Rimutaka ranges and Lake Wairarapa boundary the property.
Waio is 2970 hectares in size of which 1535 hectares is effective, the rest is made up of bush and swampland.
The Matthews family have been farming Waiorongomai since 1853 and today run between 18000 19000 stock units. This is made up of approximately 6000 breeding ewes plus replacements as well as between 1800 2100 head of cattle, consisting of breeding cows, replacement heifers, steers and bulls.
Waiorongomai is New Zealands oldest registered Romney flock and thoughout its 135 year history of breeding and selling rams, the Matthews family have endeavored to provide the NZ farmer with a quality product that works.
